Is there really going to be a difference if I plug my CPU into my monitor with VGA or DVI?

I currently have a VGA monitor plugged into my video card. My video card also has a Female DVI-I, I want to have dual monitors though. Do I need to find a VGA to DVI adaptor? Or will using just the 1 DVI-I Cable from a second monitor into my video card allow me to have 2 monitors working at once?(I thought the you NEED the VGA in order for the monitor to work?)Please someone give me answers!

I would also like to know the answer to this question if anyone can help me out please?I'm buying a widescreen LCD that has both VGA and DVI outputs, and I'm trying to decide what to use.Is there any advantage of using DVI as opposed to VGA? Will I get better picture quality since DVI is digital instead of analog?
