I also agree about the price thing, there is equipment that has better secondhand value than other, Technics turntables like you said are the best examples, but pioneer cdj-1000 also command high secondhand prices.

i know im a bit late but i just found the video but going back to what he said about the screws dont just check for missing screws look closly at the condition of the screws cos he may have had it apart and put them all back check to see if the screws has been mangles or out of shape like john said if it was sent back they would do it with a proper screw driver i worked for a company that repired electronics and 9 times out of 10 we would actuly just replace the scrwes anyway, hope this has helpt

well thats a lot. I bought 2 denons and a zomo case for a total of 350€

How about playing a cd in it to make sure the laser is ok? I think it's hard to find top of the line equipment at half price, some makes like denon and pioneer really hold their value.

i dont agree with the price thing ellaskins telling us.... Im goin to buy tomorrow 2denons dn-s1000 and the new price would be 400€ one.i get one for 325€. and thats fine , altohough its not the half of it.... i mean the prices on cd player are still high , smae like technics. u can sell your technics after 10years for 70% the price u bought it.....

what if a metal edge on a double cd played is bent? could i just pull it back in place

6. sticking or repeating- could mean poor lubrication.7. poor resistance to (minor!) knocks etc, if the laser power is mis set this can be very apparent.8. press pause then play - does it restart from the exact point on the disc? 9. loose output sockets - sign of hard life, mechanical strain on the joints on PCB10. check manual, accesories, cables are present.hope this helps. I see a fair amount of this stuff for repair so thought I'd share some tech info!

things to watch out for with cd inside and playing. part 1:1. lf the deck 'hunts' in search, could be a weak laser amongst other things.2. mechanical noise could be a problem with the sled. 3. Any jumping or the display going back to -0:00 - tracking error or misalignment4. Any jitter - usually more common at disc start -could be bad spindle motor or other problem5. slow read of disc TOC with hunting - focus error probable.
