"...and that natural phenomemon can be explained by natural causes."I think you mean can 'only' be explained by natural causes. But then, what do you mean by 'natural' causes?

"Science assumes the world is an ordered whole" No. One interesting idea based on quantum physics is that we are one of an infinite number of universes.

"1. Fact is not theory."Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the video did I say otherwise? I think (without watching it again) what I said was that a theory is just about the highest form of proof you can get in science, and that people who don't understand the word 'theory' in the scientific sense, they can use the word 'fact'. Most people think that the Earth going round the sun is a fact, but it's a theory.

Excellent video but: 1. Fact is not theory. Facts are perceivable sense datum while theories are mental constructs used to explain these facts. 2. It is not true that science begins with no assumptions. Science assumes the world is an ordered whole (a cosmos) and that natural phenomemon can be explained by natural causes.

Indeed sir, 'proof' is for mathematics.Science relies on supporting evidence, for which there is volumes in support of evolution!

no it doesnt, it means that if it is false then this can be determined. What you have said means that it is incorrect and can be proven so.

It means it can be proven incorrect.

Hardly, what I am suggesting is that just because we have expertise in acquiring knowledge through the scientific method doesnt mean that we can deduce that questions we havent even consider as wrong or impossible. We also do not look at the weaknesses of theories that we do have because they seem to work or people we consider great genius' have created them.
watchman241 (August 27, 2008 at 10:04 pm)
well, if you can experimentally test a theory that means that its falsifable. This doesnt mean it is false, just that if it is it can be found out to be. If you cant even test a theory its not falsifiable and this is even worse since you could say its not even wrong.

what are you suggesting? that we all should stop researching and start reading the bible? |
