karate's dumb when it gets into all this breaking 'concrete' stuff..this does make you a better fighter..all it does is wreck your hands.

I'm a karate man as well, but I admit the Korean arts have great leg training exercises. TKD may have become too dime a dozen, but those who are serious about it train well.

I do the pinan 1-4 katas, currently a blue belt. I practiced taekwondo before and other martial arts like judo and karate do shotokan (at the university). It is funny that when I began practicing Taekwondo I looked down on other forms of karate. Now I hold karate in the highest steem and not so for taekwondo which has become way too commercial for my liking.

Os. Thank you. They are both hard styles. I've often wondered how different they are. Do you do any of the heian/pinon katas?

I do Kyokushin, but I have much respect for Funakoshi :)

somewhere around the middle of the video he's comparing himself to Miyamoto Musashi by saying that his art is based around personal development and toughness and all that; something more about devoting 100% to one's chosen path.General stuff. :/ |
