Not so much just a great gambling movie, but just a great movie. Newman (Fast Eddie Felson) beautifully portrays the highs and lows of a pool hustler desperate to beat the legendary champion, Minnesota Fats. After winning $18,000 he gets cocky - and loses everything in a mammoth game lasting more than 25 hours. One of the central themes which runs through the movie came from the alcoholic woman in Eddies life: that he "needs more than skill to win: he needs character". The black and white cinematography adds to the gritty feel of the film. A classic film not to be missed. http://www.guidetolondoncasino... http://guidetoukcasinos.co.uk

Rest In Peace Mr. Newman. Your splendid style on screen will be missed greatly. I am curious if anyone knows for sure if Paul did that english shot at 4:37. Thanks for posting this

Not trying to be self serving, but I'm showcasing for the Actors Studio in November. I've chosen this scene.I never had the privilege but I sincerely feel as though I've lost a friend.

Agree 110%. What always impressed me about this movie is how Jackie Gleason's character is so smooth, calm, level-headed, and NOTHING like his better-known on-stage persona from television. Effortless. And Paul Newman...no more needs to be said...RIP
