I feel like when you have a voice like this, you almost have to sing spiritual songs, because this voice was God's gift.

why are people trying to compare yolanda and aretha? i'm sure aretha was an inspiration to yolanda and had to practice to make this performance an awsome performance to impress aretha. i'm sure she impressed aretha. She looked like she was enjoying the performance. But just out of curiosity...i wonder how tina turner would have sounded like singing this song back in the day when her voice was powerful. Because tina use to hit them high pitch notes, and very soulful as well. anyhow great job yola

That was not possible when it comes to this particular song and Aretha Franklin. I suggest you go listen to Aretha's live rendering from her "Amazing Grace" album. There is a clip of her singing this song. Give listen and then tell me what you think.

The most versatile singer in the world! Listen to her performance of "What about the children" at Oprah's tribute - she sang it so delicately and subly, and here she's screaming like only yolanda can! :) |
