Metallica rarely ever played thrash, they were a melodic speed metal band. Megadeth is thrash metal, Testament is thrash metal, even Anthrax on a few albums were thrash. The distinction is hard to define but if you think of their background in British bands like Priest, Maiden, and Motorhead the difference is pretty profound.

metallica the "godfather" of thrash metal? they WERE an awesome thrash metal band but i think u all know what happened to them xD there were and still are many great thrash bands u cant say metallica are the kings..
