there are exceptions like Denis where he can get away with fairly mediocre starts (watch several starts of his against this pool of competition, which isn't the greatest). Because of his incredible strength, he can come back from a bad position, and make it look easy. This is easy to do if your 140kg and are one of the strongest men in the world.

its all about the start. who ever gets the quicker better start wins

If Denis' technique improves and hes already extremely strong, he could still comeback and dominate Brzenk, a good teacher could make Denis legendary.

Perhaps he'll start a trend where world's strongest men competitors will take up arm wrestling. After that the competition will again level out since he is against guys with similar mass and strength. I'm sure Denis is not the ONLY gifted puller/strongman hybrid.

That's true, I agree 100%, however, if person A destroys person B and person B quickly beats person C then 50 to 1 person A will beat person C. Now if person A beats person B after a war and then person B beats person C after a war than person A vs. person B is probably a 50/50 chance assuming they have no record against each other. Agreed?

"If A beats B and B beat C, then A can beat C" does NOT hold true for the sport of arm wrestling. Brzenk is the undisputed legend of armwrestling, table functional strength and experience play a huge role in the sport. Denis has talent in the sport, but he is more RAW strength than anything else. John Brzenk is very universal, meaning that he is good in just about every situation. Which means he can adapt to his opponents effectively. His neurons are conditioned over the years for the sport.

Denis beat Andrey Antonov pretty easily, and he has beaten Brzenk before. Yet Brzenk beat Denis twice yesterday! Amazing! And John weighed 205 lbs.
