oh c'mon echocannonnumber, our european superiority complex? because we understand that the roots of all american music lie in europe, or africa? that's obvious, don't make me state the obvious, don't lower me to your level, if you adore django reinhardt or jacques brel, but you're not belgian, but american, well don't be ashamed, don't feel inferior, we don't feel superior. (even if we are, haha)

Beefheart at his creative peak. Mindblowing.

Fantastic Performance! This show was at "Festival D'Amougies" in Belgium, this festival was called "the Woodstock of Europe", 5 days with the most important groups of pop and free jazz..with a performance of Pink Floyd together with Frank Zappa (Pink Z Floyd), Gong made it's debut at this festival, Has anyone ever seen the performance of Gong at this festival? There is also a film of this festival..

What's the weirdest the English gave music? Music-hall psychedelia like Pink Floyd and Sgt Peppers? Ouch...Beefheart may not be psychedelic but he was a trailblazer much like Coltrane and Dolphy.

I think that's what k732092 means...

It's funny how Europeans can only allow themselves to like American musicians after they have deluded themselves that Americans don't "get" them. If that helps you keep your sad superiority complex that's fine, but the fact is that Captain Beefheart was an American musical genius, just like Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Brian Wilson and many others. Also you yourself are probably much too stupid to understand his music, you are probably just pretending you like it to seem intellectual

real avant-garde. it is great to hear how they played such difficult wroten music on stage. don van vliet compositions are still advanced almost 40 years later.

You have to british, aren't you a hot pile of crap! You have a worse attitude then most americans!i know we are pretty fucked as a society over here, but that's a broad statement.Every culture has retards and fuck ups,and closeminded people. I think you have to be slightly mad to get beefheart. Most americans just happen to be into trance-inducing pop garbage. They can't appreciate anything they haven't been taught to accept as cool. Even most who like the captain are doing it to be trendy.
