It's Tom Brislin, when Igor left they did the Symphonic stuff, and during those shows Tom sat in on keys.

honestly, if i were howe, i would hate this song too. also, i dont think it was necessarily that he didnt want the solo, its just that it would probly work better if he played the chords rather than the keyboardist. also, who is that on keys? I think its not recent enough to be oliver, and it doesnt look like igor from what ive seen of him.

True..it's a very unusual version..the funny things that happened in this band..back in 84 Trevor Rabin played his contribution into songs like "Disgrace", "Starship Trooper" among other Howe songs so to speak...and here it's sort of the other way around but sadly Mr Howe decided not give much of a contribution to this version and the key board player takes over the Rabin/Sherwood solo...

I somewhat agree. You can tell Steve Howe isn't really into it. He doesn't even want the guitar solo (which was Trevor Rabin's with a lot of harmonizer, etc). But you have to admit that this single, and album, brought the band back into the spotlight. It's unknown if they would have continued without Trevor Rabin and his contributions. But think of the new interest they created with 90125 and Big Generator.

I guess they only played it to keep Chris Squire happy. I was at the concert the day before this recording was made, and then Steve quickly played the intro of "Roundabout". Chris shouted 'wait!', but Steve played it again. Then Jon said to the audience that Chris wanted to play "OoaLH", and the audience went "Boooooo!". So they finally continued with "Roundabout", but Chris was clearly pissed off. |
