Rodeo announcers, like rodeo people in general, are habitual liars. Rodeo announcer Justin McKee must have figured that he had nothing to worry about when he falsely claimed that an injured calf dragged out of the arena was the first injured calf of the 2007 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.Unfortunately for McKee, SHARK investigators caught every word, and had video documentation to prove that four calves had been dragged out of the very first round days earlier. That doesn't even include all the injured steers that were dragged out.McKee was invited to correct his error, but so far there's no word from him. That's no surprise. That's just the way of rodeo. I dont see any videos on cattle slaughter? These videos cant hold a candle to what actually goes on in slaughter houses. I'll be you 10 bucks someone took that calf home and used it. Now how is that cruel?

This practice is barbaric. And as for the state: ranching is a small fraction of the total economy- oil and methane are the big ones now. They need to start an oil rodeo or something, and practice another antiquated art for the ignorant enjoyment of many. I am out of here in about two weeks, and it couldn't come faster.

Let me have it:I am a west coast progressive who is finishing a master's at Uni of Wyoming in near-by Laramie, and went to Frontier Days earlier today and was bored stupid by my very first rodeo. I did ah "oh shit" and jerked my head away the first time a baby calf was roped and tied, but by the millionth (or whatever) one, I had grown acustomed to it. I really, really wish I had seen this video before and convinced the several other people I went with not to go. Proof positive right here.
