eidofoor, The growth of the Earth gets exponentially greater and faster. This last growth time is faster than the previous, and so on. You have an engine of growth that needs heat and Electro-magnetic field. Moon sized, you can't expect much. Earth-sized,dynamic. Jupiter-sized, incredible, etc.

Before the sixties the theory of plate tectonics was just as proposterous without the explanation of a driving force. The evidence of this force is very circumstantial. We still don't know for sure what's going on inside our earth. I would go as far that a fancy new quantum physics theory is needed to explain to me why the earth is growing. One thing bugs me about the expanding earth theory; Why the rapid growth in the last few 100 million years? first 4 billion years of nothing and then BOOM!

I have eyes, and I can clearly see the patterns fit together... this is obvious. What isn't obvious is the mechanism. To make the giant leap that the whole planet is expanding without any data whatsoever except for 'Oo - it looks like a jigsaw puzzle on a balloon!' is spurious and unscientific.

'Obvious patterns of growth' could equally be 'Obvious patterns of fracture and subsequent motion of the ice rafts' which are unrelated to expansion. See Earth's ice floes for visual analogues. We know these are not caused from expansion of the planet, yet the features are equivalent.

Mercury has clearly grown. Any Geologist that says no. is nuts. I have already begun two animations that shows clear growth. Hey, until I did the animations you never saw the obvious patterns of growth. You have eyes, but you don't SEE!
