Omfg!! mine turns on randomly 2!!! its so annoying. Ne ideas what is wrong?

my friend has this laptop cept it died about an hour ago :/ lasted a year just like my V6000. only lasted a year. compaq/hp make very good laptops they just usually dont last any longer than a year. my friend's v5000 had xp on it. came with 384mb of ram (we were gonna up it) had a 1.6ghz processor (single core) and the Xpress 200M he wanted to use it for gameing but his ram amount wouldnt let him so we were gonna upgrade it but now we gotta figure out wats wrong with it i suspect the motherboard

Yeah this model is equipped with a low cost processor that means low performance, plus low RAM 512 at 533 mhz, i probe this model a few time ago, it comes with Vista (bad idea), and is a eat resources, a terrible performance, dont buy it, at least you are planning to put XP or a Linux dist. Vista works greats on next gen processor like Core Duo, Quad Core, by the way this laptop, doesn't need a Vista.

i mean, the more RAM, the more power you will have. if you use multiple windows a lot, it will handle it better, and the same with general use.

really? but mine works well now.. i don't think my C6700 needs an upgrade.. but does updates for vista helps improve performance?

just get more memory for it. You can get a gig for $30 and it will improve it greatly.just search V5000 memory on google.

how is that? my grandpa just bought me one, i'm not sure what series of presario it is.. but he did mention that it is compaq presario that's why im here to check on it.. but as you said that it sucks.. it has a bad performance..i'm still waiting for the laptop to be imported here in the philippines but im worried that it might screw up coz i will be using it for my thesis this sem!but i'm excited though, never really had a laptop before.. it's like a dream come true... (sigh)

Bad performance it could not multi task without freezing but I still have it now (I don't use it) but occasionally it tends to turn on by itself
