The first section is nice, but why she goes crazy during the da capo and absolutely forgets the tempo??? 3 out of 5.

The BEST "Unexpected Song" EVER!!!!; Bernadette Rocks!!!
TandAofBWAY (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Bernadette brings so much intensity to this song...it feels 100% real. She knows exactly how to phrase things and make her actions fit perfectly. Incredible performance, as usual.

oh, i was referring to emmy rossum and BJTDancer's comment.
eoarwyn (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
yes, her voice fits for the movie. but she can't pass for a broadway christine daae. she has still much to go. she's still young though. she has great years ahead of her, to be sure.
BJTDancer (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Emmy Rossum's voice wasn't underdeveloped for christine. She is an opera singer. She was asked to play christine after she had stoped singing for 4 years.

I just love Bernadette.

I just saw the Brightman version & I have to agree with what you just said. Brightman took a pretty song & did absolutely nothing with it other than sing it "pretty", there wasn't even an attempt at conveying emotion, Bernadette conveys more emotions in her eyes alone than Brightman conveyed in her entire body. This is a fantastic performance & proves that without the right performer a pretty song goes absolutely nowhere. |
