I think the rendition is too slow. If performed at the right speed, this music appears as it is, one of the greatest masterpieces of the 20th century. The choreography is well done, I think.

You may find the English version more helpful to help you understand what's going on. It's conducted by the man himself. The Bernstein Russian version is amazing.

It's all rooted in Ethnic Russian folk singing and dance rhythms.I hold this to be his supreme masterpiece.

This ballet is by Bronislava Nijinska, sister of Nijinsky ( Nijinsky's troupe )Nijinsky was mad in the days of Stravinsky's Les Noces.

It took me a long time to warm up to Stravinsky- this piece tells me I still have a long ways to go! I could appreciate the choreography better by imagining that it was done for a troupe of Nijinski's who could override the simplicity with depth of expression... as for Stravinsky's score- I don't have a clue why he did what he did... it may be no fault of my own, but simply that not every work of an artist or troupe is going to have that 'magic' necessary to be a winner...!

Is that Leslie Collier s the groom's mother? Fantastic production of a very great ballet. So detailed, so stylized, and yet so human.

This doesn't even compare to Kylian's Les Noces. It is so much more innovative.

haha, its great to see the dancers having such a hard time hitting all the accents. I love Stravinsky's music, my greatest inspiration. |
