yea mugabi was a freak he had insane power, i think at one point he had 38 wins all by ko n 4 losses, but marvin is just a different kind of beast nothing was gonna stop him from gettin inside n pounding the shit out of you, i cant even believe the heart n conditioning of old school fighters, u had middleweights fighting like lightweights for 12 15 rounds with non stop punching the whole time

at least mugabi and hearns stood toe to toe and fought like men against hagler. what a fight.

After this fight they bothh pissed blood due to the body shots. mugabi was 25-0 with 25 KO's before this fight. hagler is great.

Mugabi could not have beaten Hearns. Hagler was rusty in this fight and had not fought in one year. Hearns would have knocked out Mugabi in one or two rounds. Mugabi always went down with big punchers.

you have just witnessed a true master of inside boxing in this performance from hagler . no doubt in my mind that he is 1 of the 5 greatest ever boxers.just look how he throws thoses combinations to open up mcgabi they dont make fighters like this anymore so cherish those memories..

i agree too, like pac man he was eating punches....
Snailbarf (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
Gotta agree there. There was never a middleweight with a chin like Marvin.

It's people like you guys, who think in those terms, who have caused boxing to deteriorate into what it is. Overprotecting fighters. Now the marquee names don't fight until their mid 30s if at all, when their best days are behind them and the fans don't get treated to the best possible scenarios. As late as the 80s, boxers would fight in megamatches and make the rounds against each other in their mid-20's. Boxing needs to return to that, so we know if a guy is the real deal or not before 30.

...and a bloody good one at that.

I agree with you. Mugabe could have beaten Hearns and Leanard. It was very bad management on Mickey Duff's part matching him with Haggler at that point in his career.
