Well, maybe they were actually from another planet and they were 15!...lol I wonder how many guys have done that though, have a band, the band splits or disappears, then later form another band & gp at it again?

I think this was actually Stone Temple Pilots back when, they got jobs & then reinvented themselves to form STP years later!! Just look closely!!

I was 15 in 1984 when this song came out. The '80's were such a great time!

Yeah, but the solo in this song is waayyy better than the solo in "Jump"

TUTR to Autograph is only like "Jump" to Van Halen. Famous, best known solo, but mainly keyboard driven pop single. Go through their albums and it's guitarist heaven. I recommend "Deep End" "Six String Fever" "Hammerhead" "Friday" "Take No Prisoners" "Crazy World" "Paint This Town" "Built for Speed" "Loud and Clear" for starters... They were the second Van Halen with just as groundbreaking a guitarist, and totally different than the Crue/Ratt glam bands of the time.

Steve Lynch teaches guitar in California today. He emailed me back when I sent him a message from his web site, and mentioned he might release a guitar-based solo album in years to come. I would be extatic!! I have loved his technique and playing since I was 12 years old when Sign In Please was released. The posts of his HAMMERHEAD solo aren't here on YouTube anymore. But there are a couple of YouTubers playing it. That 8-finger hammering sounds so spaced out, and so versatile if you're Steve!

Turn Up the Radio was their pop chart hit, but you've got to dig into their albums to find the numerous (better) songs. From a guitar player's standpoint, Steve Lynch's best work is NOT in this song. TUTR is mostly a keyboard song if you ask me. For those who don't know, Steve Lynch pioneered this rock 8-finger fretboard technique (Jennifer Batten, a good friend, also learned from Steve). Check out Steve *himself* in videos posted by littleguitars316. Look for Steve's solo "Hammerhead" too

when he does the solo the way he does the bending is pretty cool on the fretboard
