action = ML^2/T

Einstein showed that the aether was not necessary to explain how light moves through space, But rather the space is itself made of energy and time. That is what E=MC^2 means. that space; C, which is a length(L) over time, is made from energy(E) and mass(M); energy density. energy is defined as ML^2/T^2 or mass times length squared, divided by time squared. If you consider that momentum is ML/T you may get some sense of what a packet of energy; photon; unit of action is (wave length).

This video is thoroughly dishonest. Einstein was opposed to aether, his work demonstrated that space-time itself could account for Lorenz transforms and apparent energy density, He showed that a fluid medium was a clumsy and unnecessary hypothesis. Others such as Bell have suggested that aether be reintroduced, but as a handy tool to park numbers on, not as something real. Space is full of photons of quantum fluctuations and fields, but not an aether in the sense that this video portrays.

What do you mean LOWEST LEVEL? The smallest possible thing? How do you over come Zeno's Paradox? With calculus? Does the Universe use just round infinities to 1??It's F'ning theoretical. I don't believe in a conspiracy, but hey don't act like there aren't problems.

Space without Aether is unthinkable, agreed.

Yah, Einstein prove that scientist of the past where wrong about aether in space. I've actually study some recordings of Einstein voice(some you can find here on youtube)and this doen't sound anything like him.

This video is sure to make HS kids lose 10 points in their extra credit project. Einstein theorized the curvature of space, time slowing down, mass increasing at speeds close to the speed of light, etc... all without the concept of an aether.

it's not his voice that is used here !

Einstein was the first to explain the null result by not invoking the aether concept at all.

Earlier comments seem to suggest that Michelson & Morley were promoting the aether concept. To my understanding, the entire generation of scientists believed that the aether must exist, including Maxwell. They had even formulated the physical properties that the aether must have the be the medium for EM radiation. The null result obtained by M & M perplexed everyone. Then there were different explanations invented for the null result, while still keeping the aether. |
