The idea is far more older guys, so please guyz be careful when u say whose it was.I made my scratch box like 4 years ago, and i used an old cd-rom drive, a usb mouse and a cd.So i emptied the cd-rom and kept only the spin motor.then i soldered another button to the mouse electronics, which i transfered forwards. then paint the cd with radial lines and ready to put on and scratch.Anyway nice work!

Yes the box must be rough (or at least the "platter" pad) if you use a "polished" cardboard (the one with print on it) the mouse will have less sensibility (try moving the mouse over a specific pad and over glass)Besides that I think the next step will be building a cardboard fake Technics 1200 :-D

Interesting, perhaps coragated cardboard then?

I think the lines are useless because the mouse CCD sensor is designed to read the roughness of the cardboard rather than the patterns
