glenn, you've nailed it. (Same goes for Jesus and Mry Chain tune from "Lost in translation" -although that's more contemporary). Isn't it AMAZING how GREAT New Order sounds some TWENTY YEARS LATER!

I think the only explanation for this song choice by Soffia Coppola is: though I'm a dude, I'm about the same age as her. In "our" early teens, New Order (and this song) enjoyed a sort a lingering popularity as alternative/cool anti-pop music. On some level, Soffia associates this music to those emotionally vulnerable years that were none the less very comfortable living with her daddy's money, etc. Apparently, injecting the movie with her personal early-teen angst didn't work.

maybe the music was set to the movie because the trailer for the film itself, the official one, was set to the same music? that might make some sense.

Agreed. This song has nothing to do with Marie Antoinette. What WERE they thinking(or not)?! This song is way too good for such a poor excuse of a movie.

This guitar riff was sometimes hummed. however, the name of a song and the this band name had been forgotten for a long time. I was possible to recall it finally in today. I listened to substance well at one's teens if recalled Thankyou very much for upload. This sentence was translated on the English translation site in Japan. I'm sorry in poor English. |
