This is to show the technique only! Of course in reality you would be very surprised how fast and surprising this move is(especially after the reverse jodan punch) and how frequently the opponent is too shocked and confused to react. I've seen this done in reality, it works, it depends on you!

To the gentleman who remarked: "This is like pro-wrestling, it only works if your opponents lets you hit him" I would say: this is the demonstration of the Sensei's favourite Kumite or Jissen sequence. It is not a show but it's like when you demonstrate a front kick to the body, the attacker kicks to the body and the other person stays still for the kick to land.

Generations of Karateka from all around the world benefited from this great master's Karate-Do. Karate in the UK will not be the same without him but of course his legacy lives on. Men like him don't just die!

I always remember how his mere presence in the Dojo would add determination in the Karateka's attitude, no matter how exhausted your body felt during the one or two weeks of Crystal Palace training the moment you lined up in front of the Sensei you would find extra determination and spirit.OSS

Isn't this the same Enoeda who swept and kicked Frank Smith in the head with the same motion and broke Frank Smith's jaw?

I didn't know until now how well known this guy was.I remember going to a grading when I was about 7 years old. Some guy walked in looking smart in a suit and I remember loads of people stop and staring, Then someone from behind me said it was Enoeda. I was training in Shotakan under Sensei Roy Tomlin at the time. It's sad that he died but good to read about him and my former Sensei.

This is an extremely effective kuzushi waza that requires many years of training to perfect.

Lyoto Machida used this tech against BJ Penn in their fight. |
