Many golf cart motors don't have a handy output shaft or faceplate. This is a description of the basics of what I had to do in order to use one. More detail will follow.

The horsepower output is really dependent on the controller. The motor is rated for around 4 HP continuous, but I'm running 72v at 300A. 72 * 300 = 21.6kW. 21.6kW divided by 765W/HP gives a peak HP rating of about 28HP. That's just an estimate, but the torque is fabulous, and the kart is a real hoot to drive. I recently measured top speed of over 62 mph - see my most recent video.

Yes, but I don't know how easy it would be to control or how long it would last. I've heard of it being done, though.
