its not comparable to the Sopranos simply because its so different. You could watch the same Sopranos episodes day in day out and not get bored but the Wire is just enthralling. I've seen all episodes of both and the Sopranos is much better but to not watch the Wire would be like shitting on DeNero because Pacinos in town.

The guy who plays Stringer is from Brixton?! I would never have guessed that.As for the best TV show in the last 20 years, I'd say it' the best show ever, well this or The Simpsons.

I was stunned when I heard Stringer was British. I honestly had no idea. He couldn't do that accent any more convincingly if he'd grown up in Baltimore. McNulty is pretty good too--you could almost pass off most of his slips as a speech impediment of some kind.

yes way better

You may prefer The Wire to The Sopranos or even Oz, but you cannot say that The Wire is funnier than The Sopranos.

That pretty much covers it all ramshackler. The show should take it's place amongst the all-time great works of dramatic art right alongside the plays of Shakespeare, MIlton's "Paradise Lost", Ellison's "Invisible man" and so on. It kind of makes a mockery of every dramatic series that came before it. Bored and cheated is a very good way of describing it. |
