im pretty sure that "electronic" would be the "big group" as you would so call it. dnb, techno,trance,house etc... are all different in certain ways and would all be like "sub-genres" to electronic music. try typing drum and bass into a search engine for music, view and listen to the results, and then try typing in techno. you will get completely different sounding music. drum and bass is very much different than most techno, and this is very much drum and bass.
