this is a shinto purifing ritual(misogi). she cuts down bad kami in al 4 directions. north, south, east and west. it is often done for a demonstration of koryu. or the re opening of a tempel.

This looks similar to a sort of a christening kata I saw a long time ago... Do you know what it is exactly? Also, I agree with you, the practitioner is very graceful. |
