Escrima is a more rogue/ninja style of fighting.Kendo is in this point of view way more 'Noble' sinse they will never attempt to hit the legs.Wich gives the Escrima a handfull of more changes.Then again, you can never tell who is better with 2 different types of fighting.

Putting aside all the theories, it's rather interesting seeing Kendo vs Escrima, especially on a basketball court. Even better if there was a hotdog stand in the background.

You can have the hardest type of blade with the sharpest edge but if it can only be used once, what's the point? That's the brilliance of the samurai sword. It's so durable. It's wooden counterpart is wax wood. If you cut it perpendicular then you might break it. But under combat? who can do that? The impact is absorbed and the wood flexs. There's a saying that goes soft overcomes hard.

Well i would understand that it can be very flexible and even strong but i think no wood can resist a full hit from an edge of a katana, cmmon i understand it can t cut another sword but i m pretty sure it can cut any type of wood!Even the most rezilient one!

Staff and spear are made out of thick waxwood, which is very flexible and strong. Very good at absorbing impact.

Do not forget the staff or the spear has a wooden handle, cause it needs to be light, therefore its very vulnerable and with proper tqnique u can take the spear's head out or cut the staff to pieces!I m thinking that u can t make and iron or any metal handle as it would increase its weight dramatically and so also makeing the handling a nightmare!But mabe i am wrong...

The Chinese jian is a elegant but difficult weapon, it's best attack is stabbing, and using it properly is difficult, unlike the Samurai sword, it's a much more defensive and passive weapon. The staff or spear master could easily keep a sword at bay then lunge.

this is strange in that the escrimador has no chest protection so the kendoka may only be able to strike the head (which is all he does).
