Um, your forgetting that it was a civil war and the massive casualties the South Vietnamese suffered. Yes, the NVA and VC lost far more soldiers, but that didn't affect them at all. During WW2 the Allies lost 5 times more people than the Axis but the no one has ever said that the Allies lost. In the end America failed to understand the mentality of the North Vietnamese, who saw it as a war of independence.
