According to the Monroe Doctrine we should have take the Argentinian side but the US will never turn on the UK that way. At least we didn't help them. The thing is that once the Brits are in you cannot get them out (Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, the Falklands) unless you have overwhelming force (United States, Dunkirk). They're tough bastards and you have to admire that. Bombing them does no good. It only strengthens their resolve. You would think the IRA would have learned from the Blitz.
