kissin plays the notes detached (i. e staccato), that is about it, richter didn't touch any more wrong notes than kissin in the three versions I have of him playing it, prokofiev himself was impressed with the way richter played the sonata, so I assume he didn't mind any tempo fluctuation.

yea i think kissin when he plays he only touches the notes that are necessary, from a strategically planned angle so he doesnt touch anything else. plus his fingers are more nimble and thinner than richter (wish i had access to richers playing at 25 y old). richter also doesnt keep steady tempo if u check some of his vids with metronome

kissin isn't more precise than richter

it was on a Radio 3 Music Matters podcast.... he's a very eloquent and interesting man.

oh really? where did you hear the interview? i've been dying to hear/watch one of zimerman's interviews, but can't seem to find one. :(

I heard Zimerman in an interview saying he plays Boulez when he's at home.... imagine the inane comments THAT video would arouse.

Tell me about it...I once had to tell off a complete moron for unduly criticizing Zimerman doing Schubert. |
