Incidentally, wasn't it Richard Dawkins who created the theory of memetics? I did a small research paper on cults a couple of years back and found that cult leaders use specific techniques to 'brainwash' their followers. These techniques are purely psychology-based and are highly potent. As much as I respect Richard Dawkins (and as much as I dislike religion), I think his theory of religion as a virus is flawed...continued

lol, wow I'm not being very succinct, am I! What I'm trying to say in all of this is that if people aren't held responsible for their actions on the world and other people, then there would be chaos. We can examine the effect of our environment and possibly genes to EXPLAIN our behaviour, but we still have to take responsibility for our actions. We can't just say "I raped that woman, but it's because my mother was cruel to me as a child, so it's not my fault."
