I have always been in awe of the Dambuster pilots. I've never seen this documentary before and it puts their feat into even greater perspective. The skill and bravery of each and every one of the crew is quite astonishing. Imaingine flying at 60 feet at night into the teeth of awful AA fire...we're not worthy.

If you mean J.C. McCarthy then the answer is 'Yes'. He was from Brooklyn and before the war he was a lifeguard at Coney Island.He passed away in 1998 aged 79.
