I remember meeting Ray in 1990, hawking the first Shelter 7 inch at a SOIA show. He had a crowd of starry-eyed kids around him, the straight edge messiah...in the flesh! Porcell was there too, asked him why I got the Chung King record in the mail, totally out of the blue. Ended up selling it a few months later for $100 to pay my phone bill (had a punk rock sweetie out of town that I met thru the letter section of MRR (how fuckin old school is that?!). Truly a "time I'll remember".
