'Aikidoka' implies a lot that most practitioners today cannot/should not imply. Of course outside of Japan the term is used freely, sorry for the confusion

i belive the correct term is "aikidoka" not "aikidoist".

Arm bars, ankle torques, kimuras, or any number of submission locks are used in MMA matches AND are designed to break bones whch is a very common injury. They are applied until the opponent submits whch more frequently occurs. In other words joint locks ARE permitted and very much used in UFC. So aikido should fit (in that respect) quite well in MMA. But first the practitioner has to get into a position of advantage before such a move can be applied. Something BJJ is designed to do.

Sweetsweatyface; While I am an Aikidoist, a few of my cousins, in addition to both my brothers, all practice and compete in MMA. Their coach was telling me one time that they do teach Aikido to their guys. I said something like "But Aikido techniques aren't offensive". He replied saying they can be, and if applied in a 'non aikido' way, are quite sneaky and effective. But most Aikido techniques break bones and joints, which you can't really do in the octogon.

It depends on the point of view. Many akido techniques rely on provoquing an atack. Of course its a martial art that uses the oponnents strike and force so u almost never are the fisrt one to atack but u provoke most atacks to be able to apply some techniques
