chichatkathy, thank you for putting the lyrics in english. I have been listening to Umm Kalthoum but so much is missing without knowing these lyrics. I wish there was a way to transliterate and translate them so I could understand the depth of this music.

Oum Kalthoum is it!!!Always and forever (more than 30 years later and we are still listening to her). She is the BEST and always will be as far as the arabic romantic songs are concerned. As far as RAP music "fan" is concerned, please do us all a favor and play in your backyard because this is something that you are not familiar with, before you compare arabic art to your rap you need to do some DEEEEEEEEP sociological studies. I am sorry to say this but...There's a BIG difference.Thanks.

I fear for you but fear that you'll forget me!Not having you close torments me.Oh, the pain of missing youburns away the midnight oil. But no matter how sleepless I am longing for you,and no matter how much my soul sinks into despair and agony,my love is dauntless and immemorial. And the torture of missing youwill never keep me away from loving you.

well i am just wondering... why don'T you find older people listening to rap? because it is too deep for mature people to understand? ridiculuos.oum kalthoum sounds unidimentional for those who are not refined enough to listen to her.i told you already i do know that song and i hate it. sounds ridiculously wonnabe crap to me! if you are palestinian and want to see real expression of national art go check naji al-ali.. not some crappy unnatural formation as DAM.

have you listened to the song I suggested? it's on you tube. just listen to it and then tell me if it's unidimensional. It's certainly a lot less so than umm khaltum. |
