iggy has never had a better vocal instrument than Bowie(well he may sing better than Bowie today)... and any true Bowie fan knows what Alomar meant to one of his musical eras but more as a composer than a guitar player... if you want Bowie great guitarists then you have Vaughn, Ronson, Belew, Fripp, Townshend... even Jimmy Page himself once!

David B. speaks about many guitar players who have worked with him, but he neglected Carlos Alomar. IT'S A SHAME! He mentioned Mick Ronson, Stevie Ray Vaughan (these two worth it) & + 2 or 3.Carlos, maybe's not a stunning guitar player but he is brilliant when it comes to create.Bowie has a nice and original voice but Iggy is a better interpreter than Bowie & he has a better vocal instrument. Bowie is quite different. Very creative, player of several instruments & not crude or raw as Iggy.

"China girl" in the "The idiot" album is great. The Bowie version in "Let's dance" was done to help Iggy Pop who was near bankrupcy. This "cover" was produced by Nile Rogers and was, of course, much more "pop". There are lots os nuances & sounds you will notice every time you hear the "original". Please don't neglect CARLOS ALOMAR work! Altough this is a Bowie/Pop be aware of his work, which is very important in "The idiot" album, not to mention on maaaany Bowie's works & other musicians.

bowie and pop have been intertwined throughout both their careers. they fed off each others personas and shared an awful lot. their lives had many parallels including their current relationships. sometimes bowie wanted to be iggy and visa versa. the idiot is very much a bowie/pop masterpiece. so, it makes sense that china girl would have elements of bowie. i think i rambled.
