To me, Ornette coleman is sometimes very funny, sometimes very evil, sometimes just talking into a saxophone.

Nope. Not telling you what your reaction should be at all, just HOPING that you yourself are not yet another jazz nazi, groveling at the feet of Wynton Marsalis. Laugh with or laugh at Ornette's music. The universe will still spin. Just not around The Stanley Crouch's of the world!! LOL

I don't think Ornette "meant" to have any specific reation to include laughter, but if you want to laugh go ahead and laugh, but I would hope you are laughing at the joyous nature of the music and NOT some judgmental laughing AT the music.
