I think you can get brighter bulbs - you'll have to look up the manufacturer's specs..also the mirror thing up top might be a bit dirty (or even the LCD)

you need an svga/DVI converter box...basically this is setup to ONLY hook up to a pc..You can buy a converter box to plug your console into it, or get a video capture card for your computer.Basically anything that lets you "play your console on a pc monitor" will work, as this projector *IS* a pc monitorcould be apple too i suppose :P

I have gathered everything to create this project but the projector I'm using is fairly old. It is bright when used without the LCd but dim when used with, would there be any way to increase the brightness?

For people who don't understand how the light "passes through the lcd" its quite simple...In the back of the lcd theres a light.. which is fine for looking at up close, but nowhere near b right enough to project. If you remove the light and the panel that holds it to the LCD, light will pass through as the LCD is CLEAR/TRANSPARENT.I think I'm going to build this soon.. I can build this FAR CHEAPER than the cost of a replacement bulb on a vid projector...

$50 w/ parts off ebay.. 3 pack of replacement lightbulbs about $5 + shipping...or $400+ for a vid projector, and $200+ / lightbulb to replace (both average about 2000 hrs run time)

most lcd screens are unsuitable for this application as the pcb cant be moved out the way of the back of the lcd panel. but it will work, ive tried it
