Well, could it be that mostly they are seen as bands that mostly cater to guitar players. Their music is not listened to by the general public. Unlike bands like Pantera, Extreme, Van Halen etc. Bands who are liked by not only guitar players but their music caters to non musicians as well.

He is the excuse for a lead guitarist from the band Avenged Sevenfold. I don't know if you have ever heard of them, I don't care, I think they suck. So, I don't listen to them one way or the other. What pisses me off is when these emo-metal bitches think that this jerkoff Gates is a great guitarist, on par with people like Romeo, Vai, Lane, Gilbert, etc. I am sorry, just because your music sells, doesn't make it good or you a good guitarist.

Even thogh we may disagree, I do thank you for having this exchange of ideas and opinions. I think that is healthy, instead of like other people on here, insulting and calling each other childish names. Best wishes and take care.

But then I daid Vai influence, he is more geared in that direction. Though TBH there are a few licks here and there that marcel has pulled out that do sound akin to the things that romeo does, but i still say coenen is way closer to vai.

Give a listen to his rendition of the Dutch national anthem or any of his videos of him from his guitartalk dvd. The ones with him playing the Vai Jem or any of his Marcel and friends videos. Vai is a favorite of mine also but no one sounds like Vai. Vai is totally an original just like Santana. No one can copy their sounds that I have heard.
