Yes without Wakeman?? Not quite the same.

I was wondering what all of you thought of bands like I.Q., The Flower Kings, Nektar, PFM, Proto-Kaw, and Spock's Beard, etc? I've got I.Q.'s "Subterranean" and it's pretty good, and growing on me. PFM is great, of course, and Spock's Beard is a little too preachy for me (it's that Neal Morse character. Gimme a break).

I've got to stick up for Steve Howe here. I think Howe was the best, and most artistic musician in the band. After listening to the duet CDs Moraz did with Bruford ("Music For Piano & Drums" and "Flag") and Chris Squire's solo CD ("Fish Out of Water") I've come to the conclusion that I like Moraz's musical sensibilities more. He's much less corny and pretentious (even if he did join the corniest band ever, after leaving Yes).

At least you didn't make up a word like trannyphobic. The word is transphobic. Do a Google search on both. So some people think Yes and Dream Theater are transsexual. Odd leap it seems to me. Sounds a little... oh, never mind.

Technical speed and accuracy is just the first step. Rudess might be able to play Chopin's Etudes better than Wakeman but that's just athletics. I place them as equals. However, Anderson, Squire, and Howe write more emotionally involving music than Rudess, Petrucci and Myung. That's where Yes has it all over D.T. More moving, lasting music.

Moraz was brilliant on "Fish Out of Water" as was Bill Bruford. I don't think Wakeman could have done as well. Or on those Bruford & Moraz duet albums. Wakeman couldn't have pulled that off.

Nah, just trannyphobic. Just kidding, but you should learn how to spell phobic before surmising even with basic Media hyped Pop psychology.
