Tarja never revealed this voice in nightwish. About her singing in this one I must say, she is the real soprano and sounded amazing. Tarja is so much beautiful singing in this way. Love her more than when she was in nightwish, because people just commented how gothic and beautiful she was, but I think people never gave the right value to her voice. Now she shows how not gothic she is, because that outfit was just marketing, but how everybody is focus on her voice and not about her style.

I also agree with the previous writer that she used to be better during the days of oceanborn, but in a live situation, her voice really doesn't have the capacity of reaching over the orchestra. You can hear it in the end here, and you could hear it all the time in the concert (I was there, actually ;>).There are other ways of classical singing, though, than just opera. Even though Tarja has the 'sound', there's a LOT to improve if she'd ever wish to be taken seriously as a classical singer.

Being one of those aforementioned 'opera singers' (ie. studying to become one), I can say that yeah, she has been educated and has a tolerable voice, and maybe she'd be capable of singing the lightest roles in some operas, but she's let her technique go to seed. She'd need a lot of practise and training to be able to be accepted even as Barbarina, and I don't think she'll have the patience to start from the bottom.

"but she doesn't have the vocal capabilities to actually sing opera"Can't rly agree with you at all, I've heard opera singers and she's pretty much their level -.-. Although I have to say she's got much more talent at singing with a deeper voice such as on the Oceanborn album.
