You think that what also happened when he fought Ali?

The main problem with Frasier is that he fought like a Heavyweight but had the conditioning of a Middlewight. His "Bulldog" fighting style worked just fine against opponents closer to his own size and strength, but when matched against someone much stronger and a good head taller he was intimidated. You could tell he was hessitant to trade punches with Foreman and didn't shoot the hook as much as he should have. Hate to see my boxing idol get thrashed so badly:S

Joe just was champion of the world because Ali was 3 years and half away from the rings.First the champion of the world was the Department of Defense of the United States, after that the Government ofered the title to Frazier.

Joe was a fighter or a punching bag?No chance, George was too much for Frazier.

If what Ali says is true, about not training hard enough for fight 1, which considering how he went to the ropes so much to rest could be true, then I can only wonder had he trained harder if he could have won becasue he did pretty well for one who didn't train as hard as he should and had beenout for so long.

I'm not going say that Ali won the fight 1 regardless of the scores, even Ali admits that he lost.Interestingly enough, Ali doesn't blame the loss on being out for 3 years, although he feels rust contributed some.He blames the loss more on him not taking Joe serioulsy enough and not training hard enough and clowning too much.Certainly any judge can be bias for or agasint ALi, but Ali was really hated by many in fight 1 and was just starting to be liked by the average person by Fight 2.

Pounding Foreman's face whilst Foreman smashed his ribs up. Ali was pissing blood for weeks afterwards. He later admitted that Foreman had him out on his feet but didn't know it. He beat Foreman by toughing it out and soaking up tremendous punishment.

In the 3rd Ali merely outlasted Joe. Frazier left him "close to death" (in Ali's words). Then again, if Frazier had defied Eddie Futch and come out for the 15th, I've always wondered whether Ali would have been there to meet him. From what I've heard, he too was about to quit - he fainted in his corner shortly after the fight - but Futch beat him to it. Awkward or not, Norton just had the right style for Ali. If he gives 70s Ali trouble, he also gives 60s Ali trouble.

Going by how I saw the fight, not the scorecards. If judges can be biased against Ali they can also be biased towards him. Ali landed more, but Frazier more active & landed the bigger shots, almost KOing him in the 11th & 15th. The 15th round knockdown merely capped off his victory. I believe Ali deserved the 2nd fight, although 7-5 was more reasonable. But again, if the 11-4 judge can be biased against Ali, why can't those who scored it 8-4 to him? You can't have it both ways.

Frazier 1 fight was scored 9-6, 8-6-1 and 11-4.He won a total of 10 different rds between the 3 cards.Everyone agrees that the last score card was bias against Ali.In Frazier 2 he won across the board 8-4 and in Fight 3 he was ahead on all cards and Joe supposedly only won the middle rds again and couldn't see out of his left eye from ALi's right hand when he didn't come out for 15.Norton had an akward style and Ali was pounding Foreman in his face while coming off the ropes every rd. |
