I believe it is a play on words. Babylon is from the story in the bible where (and a place) but it has relevance because that is where God jumbled the speech of all people so that they could not speak the same language. David Grey is creative. I am not saying anything about his beliefs I will agree that is sounds like "babble on" is a play on words with Babylon the place.

Years ago alot of people thought Jimi Hendrix was saying, "excuse me while i kiss this guy" when he was actually saying, "excuse me while i kiss the sky". Enjoy this great song either way you preceive it.
