What the hell are you talking about? Klein endorses a mixed economy in her book. Large public infrastructure with free enterprise.

See, that's the typical black/white absolutism that the right is notorious for. Nobody is talking about absolute equal distribution of wealth. It is more a matter of having a system where the movement of wealth into a few hands is somewhat controlled.

How, exactly, are free market economies like Germany and Japan in "bondage"? Klein simply proposes free-markets with oversight; a balance of free-market capitalism and meaningful regulations to minimize the risk of overzealous corporations privatizing everything and eliminating worker rights. I think most people don't realize that the promise of "small" or "limited" government and low taxes doesn't benefit the general population; it primarily benefits the top 1-5% and the corporations.

No I am not an expert in anything, nor do I need to be to know the difference between freedom and bondage. There is a sense in most people that they want the "perfect" system and will argue over flaws in every system. There are flaws in every system because life is and never will be perfect, however, the only system that I would endorse is a free society with or without flaws. If YOU want to control others and dictate your belief through force onto others then I don't have much to say.

So, you're an expert on Friedmanism vs Keynesianism? Friedman proposed unfettered free markets with no oversight and no regulation; this type of approach leads to fraud such as Enron and market crashes like the Great Depression. Klein proposes more even-handed and regulated reforms, such as the Marshall Plan that lead to a successful economic recovery for Germany and Japan after WWII. Read the book before you think of spouting off Freeper BS.

What's fairness? Equality? How do you make everyone equal? By diminishing the stronger to the weaker? Fairness is what communist preaches and look where they are. Giving people an equal opportunity is different from MAKING people equal. The notion on "free" public health care and schools is repugnant to my belief, and in fact theft from some to benefit others. There is NO "free" public schools or health care. She is an idiot.

Klein is a socialist tool. Where are the citations for what she is quoting? She make sit up as she goes along. There is nothing worse than seeing people praising this garbage. Friedman is the opposite of what she is trying to paint him as. She is a bias socialist on her way to a communist party.

Another piece of evidence that documentaries are not "truth" or "reality," but movies like any other, made primarily for consumption. Really, this film is part of the beauty of capitalism.

Gracias por compartir tu comentario que vale muchísimo para el estudiante de los estudios latinoamericanos. Your experience further validates much of the the information provided by Klein in her book. It always amazes me that people seem to know more about what's happening in other countries than what's going on in their own communities.

Very true blndhed that most that are to the left are usally,Progressives,Keynesians, Socialdemocrats/democratic socialists and in some cases very social liberals. It is the supporters of free market capitalism that tries to fool everyone that being left means communism to ignorant people who do not know much about ideology or systems. Great comment! |
