A lot of times when a recording star dies he gets a lot of extra play. That could be why the song was on the radio.

how weird, cause al hirt died in 1999 of edema. my family was a big fan of his, so my grandma met him and stuff (a long time ago in the 70s).

I never heard of Al Hirt before this. My earliest recollection is from the TV series 'Vision On'. Great melody expertly played - viva Al Hirt!!!

I well remember this instrumental from 1964, and also the vocal version "Java Jones" by Donna Lynn, which came out later in the same year.I'm not sure whether the instrumental had anything to do with the island of Java (in Indonesia), but I assumed it did, and when "Java Jones" the vocal came out, I naturally thought it was about "Jones" from the island of Java.
