actually weight lifting wasnt completely out of the picture. jack johnson did weights, ck out photos in '08 vrs '10 when he used weight lifting, noticable difference... in some of dempsey's training footage he is shown using weight resistance pulley's. its possible he also lifted weights, however your point is well taken, thru '19 his power was mainly built upon intense training/fighting schedule, along w/ axe, pushup work, coupled w/ his labor intensive work background working in mines & farms.

slim guys can be scary as hell. a few of my friends have a build like that and their fast and devastating. Jack dempsey's time was the time before weight lifting was popular as it is today. they got strong from blood, sweat, and tears.

Thank you finally someone who admits it. DEMPSEY IS NOT THE GREATEST . He refuse to fight black boxers & to be the greatest you have to be willing to fight the best despite their race for all we no blacks could have been his weak spot . There were several great black boxers out at that same era who he never gave the opportunity to , he was a racist he shouldnt be admired. Marciano, Ali,Robinson, Fraiser ,Foreman they were great they fought everyone & anyone
