"The Battle of Manila (Additional pictures, just received, showing the details of the terrible battle between MacArthur's Armies and the fanatical Japs). The Japs, content with delaying actions against the Yanks, as they retreated southward in Luzon, resolved to put on one of their fanatical 'death stands' within the confusion of Manila. The motorized U.S. 1st Cavalry Division enters Rizal Stadium, where Jap fire meets them from the bleachers and the stands. Tank fire and machine guns turn the stadium into a death trap for the Japs. Huge fires are raging throughout the city. Hundreds of huge Yank guns fire across the Pasig River into Jap hideouts. Then foot soldiers of the U.S. 8th Army use rifles, machine guns, liquid fire and grenades to finish off the Japs. Charred Jap corpses are seen. American wounded receive American Red Cross blood plasma. Fighting converges on Intramuros, the old city, surrounded with 30 ft. walls. U.S. artillery breaches the walls, Jap madchine gun nests are silenced, and fighting in Manila ceases. Nuns and Filipino civilians, used as shields by the Nips, leave Manila. Scores of corpses of other civilians are found, tied hand and foot, then coldly stabbed and butchered by the fiendish Japs. General MacArthur walks through Manila, which now lies in absolute and complete ruin, the Stalingrad of the Pacific, Pres. Osmena's government assumes power and Gen. MacArthur takes a PT boat to Corregidor. He stands before Parachute Troop formations up on the Parade Grounds, and touchingly orders the Stars and Stripes to be raised, 'nevermore to be hauled down by any foe.'" scenes of the taking of Manila, artillery used against enemy dug in, "alert riflement cut down," two fleeing Japanese, flame throwers burn out resistence in southern city, litter bearers come under fire of Japanese snipers, big guns breach thick walls of city, dead bodies, "natives slaughtered in cold blood," MacArthur inspects ruined city, speaks on Corregidor, flag raised to bugle call. Newsreel end with sound. (complete newsreel)

In order to occupy the Phillipines, the Americans waged war and defeated the Republic of Filipinas. In the process, two hundred thousand filipinos were killed. Also, as the Japanese were retreating, when, according to some sources, there were few, if any, Japanese soldiers left in Intramuros, the US aviation did bomb that part of the city to pieces, killing many of its inhabitants. This is what I have read, written by Filipino sources.

to see the whole story you need to research history for hundred of years japan was attacked by neighbore countrys for years. butt if they attack there the bad ones, only some were bad and sick many were honorable people, butt they asked for it when they attacked pearl harbour.

I have nothing against the Japanese aggression in Asia. But attacking USA...they dug their own grave...heheThe have seen documentaries about how brave American marines fought...huge respect! The Japanese were fanatical, just like the Waffen-SS soldiers...they did not retreat.

war puts Manila to dust....really a sad part in our rich and colorful history.....intramuros and the structures comprising the walled city is now only a memory...

you people should also always remember that up until nowadays, america is only a nation who does anything out of interest. they may look good and friendly like your ideal superman, but you should always remember that they too have goals inside your mind. and those goals or whatsoever they may be would never be always good towards you. but at least the americans are the "better evil" not like some people out there. at least the americans know how to do their words.
drifterZ00 (July 16, 2008 at 4:31 pm)
anyways, the deal here is..."Never trust foreigners"we can be friendly with them, but not all the time. however, i am not saying that we should implement "Filipinos Only". we are not like those japanese who do "Japanese Only" or "Do not enter unless you have a Japanese Escort". we are too friendly with them yet is too unfriendly on our own. i think its time for us to mature and end this colonial mentality on our mind. its only the americans and those foreigners who would become rich.

worse, they even bias themselves as the ones who are the real good guys. where in fact, reality states that they're nothing but just plain merciless cold hearted murderers!
