16 is legal age in Australia too. I think, however, that your 'opinions' on wether or not you agree with this age of concent is not really relevent here, as these are LEGAL ages of consent in many countries, the US included. (obviously not all states, however).

FYI at 16 a person is a YOUNG ADULT. Able to move out on their own, get married (with consent from their parents-but not if they elope to Scotland), start a career or go on to college.Of course maturity is an individual thing, I guess Great British people are just more mature in general than you Yanks.DO A DAMN GOOGLE SEARCH!

d00d, there are no areas of the us where it is legal to have sex with a 16 year old childand its not, i repeat, not a good idea to have children making life decisions at the age of 16, 18 is barely old enough to ever make a right decision
