The only irrelevant thing on this site is the pathetic comments of twats that know nothing about anything.

One of my heroes. Like Mark Knopfler, I just love how he keeps going, him and his guitar, slaying people wherever he goes, Woody Guthrie-style.

You are right jonbecker. GP is not relevant, or not nearly as relevant as Liza Minelli, stored safely in your favorites. Now thats talent. I think I saw Liza just last week, on her knees in the same restroom as George Michael. Except she was searching for any pills she could find. George's mouth was already well-stuffed.

This man is a genius, whose contribution to 70's/80's music dwarfed what most of his more famous contemporaries did. He influenced so many songwriters, and was always more punk than Elvis Costello, even when he was doing R&B.

Parker is like the missing (but worthy) link between Springsteen and Costello.

God what happened to this guys career? He turned out "The parkerilla" and the fantastic "Squeezing out sparks". Then when "The up escalator" came along, the Americans went Graham parker mad. It was sort of the End!

I agree. I've had the pleasure of seeing GP now countless times up close and in small venues, where he comes out, talks to you, even recognizes you (if you pop up at enough of his shows), and he actually responds to your email from his website--that would never have happened had he made it really big. It's unfortunate but true. GP has always been underestimated. He is a great musician and witty lyricist.
