why does he have to hit the ball at the beginning? i mean, why does every "pot-makers" have to hit their clay before they begin doing?

Wow...amazing. Inspiring! I want to lesrn how to do that! Even if I just manage to keep my clay centered and look cool while doing it..:-) Seriously, my hands are itching to learn how to do that.
