Its pretty reliable...but it can break , same as anything else. And if it does, its VERY expensive to fix

volkswagen just set the standarts for a new automatic tramsmission but nothing beats a manual or smg transmission in terms of fun dsg might be faster but not fun becayse it does all the work for you

Well simply tiptronic is generally just an automatic transmission with manumatic shifting. Vs. DSG is a manual transmission with automated shifting.

what's the difference between DSG and tiptronic?(I'm new to cars)

yes i understand that but it doesn't mean it can't be the same. im not saying BMW is better just that they also have it.

Sorry for replying so late but I think you don't know that DSG uses 2 clutch plates, BMW copied VW and changed the name of it's gearbox.

well BMW invested in SMG which was launched into production in 03 and has been proven a great transmission. now to be replaced. i have driven a new GTI with the DSG it was cool shifts like an automatic and i love the paddle shifters just not for me i prefer the new BMW M3 with the dual clutch. thats personal opinion

same than DSG landyacht06, Porsche started developing double clutch transmissions 25 years ago... |
